UNIQLO hits lucky 7, and still counting…

You’ve probably already caught wind of the eagerly anticipated launch opening of UNIQLO @ Bugis+. But just for the sake of those who aren’t in the know, boy, are you in for a treat! It was a star-studded affair at last week’s UNIQLO official opening at Bugis+ (formerly Iluma). Dubbed by many as Japan’s No. 1 Casual Wear Brand, this marks its 7th and largest store to date ever to cement Singapore’s street-fashion scene. Leading up to its official opening on June 8, 2012, we were among the 420 attendees to witness our town’s biggest preview party yet – that’s big enough to be grazed by Mediacorp celebrities including Joanne Peh, Rui En, Rebecca Lim and Qi Yuwu, to name a few, who flocked to catch the buzz.

The party towed along an evening of entertaining lineups by Jack & Rai, members of Sixx, and DJ Inquisitive who later warmed up the crowd with his flawless mix of electro beats. A lucky draw was also on the bill, but I was admittedly sidetracked to something else. Guests were treated to a $100 voucher to indulge in a pre-shopping spree at the store (ooh la la), and that was a definite highlight! Trust that I had my hands full by the end of the night. :)

As the party began to simmer down, I was able to smuggle back a few sneak peeks into the future with UNIQLO’s Managing Director, Mr Ono. Word has it that UNIQLO is looking to expand even further, with India, Vietnam and Australia next on their list. Furthermore, it looks like number eight is also well on its way to our shores…

UNIQLO Bugis+ is now open to public, along with its six outlets located at venues across Singapore: Parkway, Causeway Point, Vivo City, Somerset, Ion Orchard and Tampines 1.
